Alfie

Alfie is a 2 year old neutered small mixed breed currently in foster care in Lincolnshire. Alfie is a sensitive dog who builds trust slowly. He is cautious around new people and needs time and space to approach interactions at his own pace. Once he feels safe, he forms strong bonds and shows an affectionate and playful side. He enjoys spending time with his foster carers and will seek out attention when comfortable. He is curious, enjoys exploring the garden and benefits from a calm and predictable routine. Alfie can become overwhelmed if approached too quickly or if expectations are placed on him too soon. He requires patient handling and a consistent environment to help him continue building confidence. He is housetrained and crate trained and settles well overnight. He walks well on lead and enjoys regular walks. He is currently working on accepting the removal of his harness and will require continued support with this, as he can still be sensitive during handling around his head. Alfie enjoys food and is motivated by it, although he prefers to eat undisturbed. He is still learning to tolerate grooming and will benefit from gentle, ongoing desensitisation.
