Leah

Leah is a two year old female Terrier Cross who is affectionate, intelligent, and full of curiosity. Leah didn’t have an easy start in life. As a puppy, she was kept on a balcony by an addict and only survived because kind neighbours managed to throw her food. Soon after, she was abandoned on the streets and quickly became pregnant. Thankfully, caring neighbours stepped in and had her spayed immediately, but Leah was still struggling to cope. She would follow children around the playground, hoping someone might take her home… but no one ever did. Leah missed out on vital love and care in her early years and had to learn how to survive on the streets. Adjusting to life in a home was a big challenge, but she has come a long way. She has learned how to settle, share, play nicely and how to manage her excitement. Leah is a funny, affectionate girl full of curiosity and intelligence. She loves mental stimulation, training games and one-to-one attention. She already knows many commands and is patient around food, waiting for instruction before eating or going through a doorway. Walks are still very exciting for her and she can become overwhelmed in certain environments, especially around other dogs. She does have a few specific triggers that can make her reactive, but with continued support, structure and patience she has already made amazing progress and will continue to do so. She will thrive in a calm, consistent environment where she feels safe and secure – ideally with one person or a couple who enjoy an active lifestyle and are committed to continuing her training. Leah adores cuddles and loves to snuggle under a blanket (and occasionally dry herself off in the bedsheets!). She is an energetic, loving girl who is ready for a forever home where she can continue to grow into the best version of herself.
