Freya

Freya is a 3 year old large female Cross-Breed. Freya doesn’t like people walking past her kennel. She is quite nervous of people but once she gains trust she is very happy and loves cuddles. She is very treat oriented which is good but she does try and snatch the treats. She’s great with lead and collar and walks well no problem at all. She’s fine on walks and walking past people but she starts barking at dogs and is unsure.’ Freya can be nervous of people coming into the home which will cause her to bark and growl, she is best meeting people out on a walk first so she can become comfortable with them. She is then generally okay within the home however she can sometimes bark if visitors make sudden movements which startle her so will need to use her safe space longer term. She is not crate trained so would prefer a dog bed. Freya is toilet trained and travels well in the car. It is felt Freya could do very short periods on her own but this would need to be built up very slowly in her new home. Therefore, she will need someone that is home all day. Freya needs a female primary carer, ideally in a female only home or with a confident, very dedicated male who can slowly build a relationship with her. Using a safe space long term so that she feels safe, builds confidence and has somewhere she can go if she feels overwhelmed before trigger stacking is absolutely vital for Freya. Her new home will need to be committed and dedicated to allowing her to go at her own pace in order to settle and become comfortable in her new home. Once she has built up a bond based on trust she will show how loving and affectionate she really is.
