Millie is a beautiful temperament, always happy, loving cross-breed girl of around 2 years old.
Unfortunately, a few days ago, Millie had to go to boarding kennels as all our current fosters are fully booked. While this is likely one of the best kennels you can find, staffed by true dog lovers with great facilities, an on-site behaviorist, and a focus on rehabilitation, it’s still not the same as a home.
They offer wonderful care, take the dogs on walks, and play with them, but it can’t replace the love and comfort of a real family. We’re praying that this sweet girl finds her forever home soon.
Before this Millie was at foster in UK and this is what they say:
“Millie is a very sweet, attractive and affectionate young dog. She likes people and to be with people and is normally docile and friendly. She likes to be stroked and groomed and to have her belly rubbed.
She likes exploring but doesn’t try and escape from the garden or run off when out for a walk. She likes to play with toys, especially in the evening out in the garden. She will readily sit on command and shake a paw!
She is very good off the lead, walking along paths, in fields and in the woods etc in the countryside, and she will regularly look back and check that you are there and come back when called.
She is very friendly with people she meets and will regularly sniff them (to check they are human) as you walk along, though she is slightly nervous of other larger dogs until she gets to know them. She will happily chase and play with other dogs she feels comfortable with. If they are too much she will do a little growl and they will usually back off.
However, we have come across a few behavioural issues. The main issue appears ‘resource guarding’ and the things she guards have increased and changed whilst she has been with us. This can be unpredictable and takes us by surprise at times. For instance we might be happily working in the same room as Millie who’s in her bed, coming and going and talking to her.
Suddenly she will change and growl, snarl if we re-enter the room. She also will suddenly and unpredictably snarl in other places where she’s lying down. Another example is that we are both hesitant of trying to move her off the sofa.
The only safe way is to call her from another room, sometimes with a treat to lure her. This may be because for some reason Millie has not really settled with us after nearly four weeks and still feels insecure.
MILLIE is active but not hyper, always happy, not pushy. Very loving and loves cuddles and fuss. Loves people company and being nearby.
MILLIE is very smart, loves learning new things. But the most she likes is walks being active and having attention from people.MILLIE is good in the car and loves it.
MILLIE has no known health issues. Spayed, vaccinated, microchipped. Brucella C. tested.
